Feel the beat in Aarhus

In Aarhus you can feel the beat of the times in the old streets. The big-city atmosphere, the large student population, making Aarhus the “youngest” city in Denmark, and the various attractions make for wonderful activities day and night all year round.

In the heart of the city awaits artistic, cultural and culinary experiences. Galleries, museums, restaurants and cafes are packed tightly in between the many exclusive and unique shops. Beautiful squares and open spaces along the river of Aarhus invite you to take a break, inhale the atmosphere, and let yourself get carried away.

Transportation

By car

Denmark has an efficient road network allowing easy driving access to the city of Aarhus. The highhway are toll free. Passing through Aarhus, is the E45. It takes you almost directly to Kaløvig Sailing Center. The highway exit is a mere 3 km from the marina.

Flights from any parto of the world bring you to two airports close to Aarhus. Arriving at Copenhagen Airport you have the choice of transferring to Aarhus Airport or Billund Airport (next to Legoland). You may also choose to go by fast train, or rent a car. Billund and Aarhus Airport are running a shuttle bus service directly to Aarhus.

There are public airport bus services for the on-going transfer of passengers to Aarhus from Billund Airport and from Aarhus Airport.

Denmark has an efficient train network with a direct service to the centre of Aarhus from Copenhagen Airport. Travel time is 3 – 3.5 hours between Aarhus and Copenhagen Airport. There are 1-2 train departures every hour. There’s a guide in English explaining how to make a reservation of tickets and seats.

Aarhus has an extended public transportation network which brings you everywhere for just about DKK 20. Furthermore, the city offers a public bike service with more than 400 bikes available for your use, free of charge 24 hours a day.

Sailing Aarhus offers accommodation directly at the venue in custom designed campers; each camper houses four persons in two separate rooms and has its own bathroom and even a small kitchen with cooking facilities and a dishwasher.

Price per person is €350 for 7 nights (€ 50 per night); minimum booking is for two persons in one room. Period: 13 – 20 August 2011. A limited number of caravans is available, so please contact event manager Ms Christina Laub Frank as soon as possible and before July 25th 2011.

Camping at the venue in your own camper or tent
It is also the possible to park your own camper or place your tent directly at the venue, paying only a small fee. This opition is however limited and spaces will be allocated at a first come service. Please refer to the online entry page.

Self Catering holiday homes
Along the coast lines north and south of Aarhus, there are a lager number of privately owned holiday homes, which can be rented through our partners Novasol and Dansommer.

We have a few cottages available for rent right at the venue of the A-Cat Worlds. The cosy cottages are situated only a few meters from the boat park and the competition area.

Each cottage has:

•  4 rooms with 2 beds
• 2 bathrooms with toilet and shower
•  A common room with sofas and TV

In addition to this, you will find: access to public parking, 200 meters to bus stop, wireless internet (extra service), barbeques and a small playground nearby. Restaurant Kaløhus is right around the corner. Price: DKK 350/€47 per night per bed.
